Safe Streets!
On Saturday, May 10th, a group of local advocates organized a training session to help passionate people in Edmonton stand up to Minister Dreehsen and take direct action. We were blown away at the response, with nearly 50 people showing up on short notice!
We met people that have been involved since the very start of Bike Edmonton, and people who are getting involved in advocacy for the first time ever! There were seniors who rely on cycling to get groceries, teenagers who are passionate about addressing climate change, and people from all backgrounds and walks of life that just love being able to safely live their life by bike.
After they were trained, people headed out to various locations in small groups. They setup signs, talked to strangers, and through their collective efforts, we are nearly at 1,000 letters sent to Minister Dreeshen.

Our trained volunteers will continue to canvas this week, and throughout the upcoming weekend. Can you help? Consider locations like:
- Bike lanes - every lane is literally at risk
- Farmer's markets, patios (coffee shops or breweries for example), or any outdoor festival
- Schools, senioprs centres, and other places where people who may not drive spend time
- You probably have a great idea of a local place where people are concerned about safe mobility, even drivers benefit from safe streets - don't let our lack of creativity hodl you back!
If you have any questions, just let us know - we are here to help!
